These Foods Could Be One of the Causes of Cancer

There’s an overload of news floating around the Internet about the possible causes of cancer, which is why it’s extremely difficult to know what the real dangers are. The good news is that when it comes to food, there’s not much that causes cancer. Of course, obesity is a common cause of certain types of cancers, but food in general is not really carcinogenic, as smoking and radiation is.

It’s not like all foods are harmful – there are only a handful that have been linked to a higher risk of cancer. Eating these in moderation is great, but consuming them in high amounts every single day, could put you at a greater risk of cancer.

In order to ensure that you stay healthy, try and limit the amount of processed foods, pickled items, charred meats and steaming hot drinks. There’s no way to protect yourself from all kinds of cancer, but there’s really no harm in adopting a healthy lifestyle.

Processed foods must be avoided because they contain a huge amount of calories, which cause several health issues. Smoked or cured meats such as hot dogs, bacon, ham and sausages are considered to be cancer-causing, so eat them in moderation but do not binge on them!

There are also pickled or highly salty foods, such as salted fish, pickled vegetables, and salty snacks that are linked to stomach cancer. Again, less is better so try and avoid extra salt.

Having a drink once or twice a week is not a bad idea, but when you overdo it, you put yourself at a higher risk of mouth cancer, breast cancer and even colorectal cancer. According to health experts, women should limit their intake to one drink a day, while men must not go beyond two drinks.

Next, we come to charred meat. The heat plus meat can release DNA-damaging heterocyclic amines and even polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons. You must cook at lower temperatures and also keep flipping the meat from time to time to avoid charring.

Lastly, you might love beverages like tea, coffee, soup but don’t have them when they are piping hot. You might not associate their consumption with any health related issues, but it can raise the risk of esophageal cancer. It’s not that you have to give up on these beverages; just wait until they cool down.
